Iran’s Parliament approved the nuclear deal making it finalized by all parties and ready for implementation. The Iranian supported militia group, the Mukhtar Army, committed a rocket attack against the People’s Mujahedeen (MEK) in Iraq, killing 23 people. Peace talks to resolve the conflict in Syria included representatives from Iran this month, and though no agreement was made, another meeting was scheduled for November. Iranian-American citizen Siamak Namazi was arrested in Iran, making him the fourth American currently being held in Iran. One of Iran’s top generals; Hossein Hamedani was killed in Syria followed by two other top Iranian officials the following week. It was reported that four Russian cruise missiles heading to Syria went awry and landed in northern Iran, though both Russia and Iran contend the allegations to be false. Iran tested ballistic missiles and may have been in breach of a UN resolution and agreements made in the nuclear deal, a UN investigation will determine whether this was the case. President Obama signed an order which will allow waivers of nuclear sanctions on Iran, though they will not be instituted until Iran upholds its commitments under the nuclear deal. Iranian oil tycoon Babak Zanjani’s trial began this month. He is tried on corruption charges and cited as owing the government two billion Euros. Iran announced an oil and gas investment conference which will be held in London in February.
