INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL GROUP STRUCK BY PAYMENT CARD SYSTEM HACK / by Alistair Galloway

Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG), based in the United Kingdom, reported that approximately 1,200 of its franchise properties, including Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, and Candlewood Suites, were struck with payment card theft malware. An internal investigation detected evidence that malware could have affected card payments between 29 September and 29 December 2016, mainly in US franchisees; IHG did not report evidence suggesting that other guest information was compromised.
