Turkish authorities arrest more than 1000 members of the nationwide police force who are said to be supporters of the U.S.-based cleric, Fethullah Gulen. These detentions come only 10 days after the Turkish people voted narrowly to expand President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s already extensive powers in a referendum that European election observers described as “marred by irregularity”.
