The Governor of Yemen’s port city of Aden, Major General Jaafar Mohammed Saad, was killed this morning in an IED blast that occurred while traveling in Al Tawahi Province. The IED was apparently planted in his vehicle, killing him along with his 6 man escort team. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has claimed responsibility for the attack. Saad was only recently appointed governor of the region.
01.12.15 (London)- A blast has occurred near Istanbul’s Bayrampasa metro station, though the exact cause remains unknown. Initial reports indicated that the blast was caused by a faulty transformer, however later reports indicate that the explosion came from a pipe IED (improvised explosive device) detonated on an overpass near the station.Read More
Turkey has reportedly shot down a Russian military aircraft on the country’s southern border in Hatay province. Turkish F- 16s shot down the SU 24 after warning the two pilots they were violating Turkish airspace. At least one of the pilots has been confirmed dead by Syrian rebels in Latakia province, where the jet crashed.Read More
