A hotel in Mogadishu was attacked by al Shabaab militants on 25 January, resulting in 15 deaths and 51 wounded. On 26 July two car bombs were detonated near the entrance to Mogadishu airport, within close proximity to a base for African Union (AU) peacekeepers in Somalia. At least 13 were killed in this incident, including 7 security guards.Read More
Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for an attack on the Somali capital Mogadishu on 26 February. Nine people were killed as attackers targeted the Somali Youth League Hotel on Friday night, exploding a car bomb outside the hotel before storming inside past security guards. The attackers were ultimately shot dead by police.
